AZ AFO Arizona-Restoring Mobility-Restores Life
Michelangelo's Foot Comfort & Pedorthic Shoppe has been casting and fitting Arizona AFOs for over 15 years. Michelangelo's is one of Chicagoland's most recommended sources for Arizona AFOs. Patient compliance is increased through the use of an Arizona AFO and consequently patient comfort and treatment is more successful.
The Arizona AFO is effective in the management of posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction (PTTD). The Arizona AFO fits easily into a comfort shoe and stabilizes the ankle area-the talocalcaneal mid-tarsal and subtler joints. It provides medial and lateral stability to minimize sinus tarsi impingement and reduces either forefoot abduction or adduction. With these combined elements, its unique design relieves overall pain of the foot and ankle complex.
Additional pathologies that can be treated successfully with the Arizona AFO are: ankle, subtler or metatarsal trauma, drop foot, arthritis of the foot and ankle, degenerative joint disease (DJD), post-op ankle surgery or a non-union of a surgical procedure and Charcot Foot.
Constructed of soft leather over a lightweight plastic frame, the Arizona AFO is available in four colors: sand, black, brown and white. Three different closure types are available for each style: all lace, all Velcro and a combination of both lacing and Velcro. A toe filler option is available on all styles for various amputations.
Just ask the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons researchers who conducted the first study of its kind at the New Jersey Medical School, UMDNJ, for the non-operative treatment of PTTD. They found that the use of the Arizona AFO resulted in a 90% success rate.
